I'll get into history & details later.
1) If you have concerns about your water supply, contact the Public Works Department. Your water will be tested by an agency out of Spokane. The Public Works Department (PWD) will pay for the test. The folks from Spokane will be coming up about once a week, so make sure PWD has all contact numbers, because the testers need to set up an appointment with you.
2) Jim Whitbread is the County Engineer in charge of the Road Department. He has his crews working 12 hour days, 6 days a week. He has pulled his crews from all their other projects. They are removing all of the material from Brooks Road. They did a big scrape and then they started over & did it a second time. His words: "I told them they are to take off more than they put down."
They started on Peterson Swamp Road, but a lot of the road is still frozen or in "break-up" status, so they moved over to Brooks Road. They have gone deep & cut into the ditches trying to get it up.
The PWD had to go to Spokane in order to get enough plastic to put down on Bonanza. The road material came from there, but the Department of Ecology is requiring it be placed on heavy duty plastic when it is returned to the site.
3) There is supposed to be a public meeting April 12. Jim Matsuyama is in charge. He is the head of Tri-County Health District. He will have people over from the Department of Ecology at the State level. After the meeting, PWD will post the information on their website.
I will post any information I can get on this blog, or at least a link to the source.
